Recent Discoveries of Energetic Young Radio Pulsars
The observed population of young radio pulsars has grown substantially in recent years due to a combination of large-scale surveys and deep targeted searches. Many of the pulsars are associated with supernova remnants and/or unidentified gamma-ray sources. This review summarises the state of play and looks ahead to likely advances in the near future.

The chemical reaction lies at the very heart of chemistry. In spite of its paramount importance, an understanding of chemical reactions still falls short of the chemists’ expectation. Microscopically, chemical reactions are constituted by atomic movements on a typical time scale of several hundreds of picosecond (10 s). It has been a formidable task for chemists to track down a reaction process...
متن کاملSurprising Discoveries by Recommender Systems
Recommender systems apply data mining techniques to predict users’ interest on information, products and services among a tremendous amount of available items. Key to the success of recommender systems is user satisfaction. That cannot be achieved only by accurate recommendations. Recent work has focused on new measures that are beyond the accuracy of recommender systems. Serendipity is one of ...
متن کاملSoft robotics for chemists.
In areas from assembly of machines to surgery, and from deactivation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to unmanned flight, robotics is an important and rapidly growing field of science and technology. It is currently dominated by robots having hard body plans—constructions largely of metal structural elements and conventional joints—and actuated by electrical motors, or pneumatic or hydrau...

Young People and the Great Recession This article reviews the effects of the Great Recession on youth labour markets. We argue that young people aged 16-24 have suffered disproportionately during the recession. Using the USA and UK as case studies, we analyse youth unemployment using microdata. We argue that there is convincing evidence that the effects of unemployment when young impose costs o...
